The Lord Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin. And the servant stays not in the house for ever: but the son stays ever” (John 8: 34–35). The Lord’s words tell us that if people cannot rid themselves of the bondage and shackles of sin, and they continue to commit sins, then they are the servants of sin and shall never enter the kingdom of God. “Enjoy life while you can, for who knows what tomorrow might bring?” In society nowadays, many people believe that life is there to be enjoyed. They cannot help but indulge in smoking, drinking, gambling and going to karaoke bars and so on, but what is undeniable is that, though the flesh may feel enjoyment and satisfaction at the time, the spirit feels empty and pained. Could the meaning of life be just eating, drinking and making merry? How are we supposed to free ourselves from this empty and degenerate life and find a genuine life?
