“Mom, I want to do the operation this year.”

“Yeah, it’s time. We’ve put it off too many years. Then when you go home let’s do it.”

“Yeah, mom, so let’s settle everything and then go back home. Talk to you soon.”

A storm of thoughts raced through Wenjie’s mind as she hung up the phone. She thought back to 2010, when a checkup at the hospital confirmed that her daughter had pancreatic cyst.
